Psychological Therapy
Please note that all psychological therapy offered starts first with an assessment. Please see the Assessment page for more details.
Individual therapy
I have worked with children, adolescents and adults of working age through to older adults on a range of difficulties and hopes.
Parent work
I have specifically trained in parenting interventions such as the Incredible Years and have a personal interest in most Peaceful or Positive Parenting approaches. I believe that humans evolved through survival of the fittest to live in groups, but that our current culture, particularly in the UK, often leaves parents in isolation with little support but exceedingly high expectations. I believe that every one of us would benefit from help to think and space to breath when it comes to parenting our children, and this isn't always possible between the juggling of relationships, money and work demands. I take a non-judgemental holistic approach to parenting.
Parent-child therapy
I have specifically trained in the Parent-Child Game intervention which is a predominantly behavioural approach. I have also trained in other models such as Psychodynamic and Systemic, and within the frameworks of Attachment and Trauma, and experience of working with parents and foster carers with their children using approaches that fit in with these models and frameworks.
Family work
Finally I also offer whole family assessment and intervention following the same principles described above and on the 'My Approach' page. Sometimes working together with the whole family can help shift problems along more quickly as everyone in the household or across two households are on the same page and can act together towards healthier emotional communication.
